Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access
community college, offering associate degrees and certificate
programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and
Ashland, Massachusetts.
Position Summary:
The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community and
have a desire and ability to serve a population of students with
various needs and backgrounds. This is a part-time, non-unit
position with no benefits.
The Athletics Fellow provides operational, administrative,
communications, recruiting, and student engagement support to the
MassBay Community College Athletics Department. Working closely
with the Associate Dean of Athletics, coaches, staff, and campus
partners, the Athletics Fellow will assist with the day-to-day
operation of the College's intercollegiate athletics program and
Recreation & Wellness Center. The position is designed to
provide flexible support across multiple areas, including athletics
administration, recruiting and admissions coordination,
communications and social media, facility operations, equipment
management, and student engagement. The Athletics Fellow will also
provide additional operational coverage during periods of staff
absence or increased departmental activity and will support the
continued development of emerging programs, including Unified
Sports and esports.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist with the daily administrative operations of the
Athletics Department, providing organizational and operational
support to the Associate Dean of Athletics, coaches, and athletics
staff;
- Maintain and update team schedules, rosters, statistics,
records, eligibility information, calendars, and other
athletics-related data to ensure information is accurate, current,
and readily accessible;
- Assist coaches and athletics staff with administrative
projects, program initiatives, recruiting activities,
student-athlete communications, and other departmental
priorities;
- Help coordinate department calendars, meetings, athletic
schedules, practices, events, and special projects, including
preparation, logistics, communication, and follow-up;
- Serve as an additional administrative resource for coaches,
helping organize recruiting information, prospective
student-athlete records, communications, campus visits, team
documentation, and other day-to-day needs;
- Support the Athletics website, social media, and digital
communications, including gathering content, preparing updates,
promoting programs, and highlighting student-athlete and team
accomplishments;
- Provide operational coverage and support for the Recreation
& Wellness Center, including facility supervision, customer
service, program support, equipment oversight, and assistance with
daily facility operations;
- Provide additional staffing and operational support during
periods of increased departmental activity, staff absences,
athletic seasons, special events, and other identified needs;
- Assist with the continued development and administration of
emerging and expanding programs, including Unified Sports and
esports, as assigned;
- Collaborate with campus departments including Admissions,
Student Development, Marketing and Communications, Facilities, and
other College offices to support Athletics and Recreation &
Wellness initiatives;
- Assist with student engagement and retention efforts, helping
create opportunities for students to participate in athletics,
recreation, wellness, and related campus activities;
- Represent the Athletics Department and Recreation &
Wellness program in a professional, welcoming, and student-centered
manner when interacting with students, faculty, staff, visiting
teams, community partners, and other stakeholders;
- Perform other related duties, special projects, and
responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Dean of
Athletics.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications:
- Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative
Action;
- Experience working in a community college or similar
environment;
- Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need;
- Previous experience working in intercollegiate athletics,
collegiate recreation, campus recreation, student affairs, or a
higher education environment;
- Experience with student-athlete recruiting, prospective student
communication, admissions, enrollment, or student retention
initiatives;
- Familiarity with NJCAA, NCAA, or other intercollegiate
athletics policies, procedures, and compliance requirements;
- Experience managing or supporting athletics schedules, rosters,
statistics, eligibility records, or other athletics
databases;
- Experience with athletics website management, social media,
digital communications, or content creation;
- Experience with graphic design, photography, video production,
or other digital media;
- Experience working in a recreation or fitness facility,
including facility operations, customer service, equipment
management, or program administration;
- Experience collaborating across multiple departments or
organizational units;
- Knowledge of community college athletics and the unique needs
of community college student athletes.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $30 per hour
Classification: Part-time, Non-Unit
