We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Research Assistant to join our multi-disciplinary team with a shared vision of improving mental health outcomes for women and partners experiencing miscarriage.

The post holder will work specifically on the project Peer support interventions to improve mental health outcomes after miscarriage: systematic reviews and evidence synthesis of effectiveness, and barriers and facilitators to improve future service design.

The post holder will support the conduct of a qualitative study with a diverse group of parents who have received peer support, and peer support deliverers, gathering personal narratives about their experiences of peer support. They will also support, where necessary, the systematic review of the current evidence regarding effectiveness, and the barriers to and facilitators of, peer support interventions for women and their partners following miscarriage.

The successful candidate should be qualified to degree level (preferably a degree in social sciences, allied health professions, psychology) and will have experience in qualitative research. The candidate should be experienced in leading data collection within studies and have high quality skills and experience in qualitative research, including effective participant recruitment, conducting one-to-one interviews, and qualitative data analysis. They will be comfortable working independently and collaboratively, and will successfully manage their time and workload, handling demanding deadlines. They will work as part of a multidisciplinary team with the project lead by PI, Dr Leanne Burton and Co-PI, Professor Liz Perkins.

The post is available for 16 months from 1 January 2025, 0.5 FTE - 17.5 hours per week.

Although the university has a hybrid working system, the expectation is that the successful applicant appointed to this role will be expected to work more than 50% on campus.
