Auburn Advancement is excited to begin the search for an Auburn Giving Officer in the College of Human Sciences to join our philanthropy team! You will be vital in building lasting relationships and securing the resources needed to support Auburn Advancement and Auburn University's philanthropic mission.
What You'll Do:
- Build Meaningful Connections: Engage with prospective donors to uncover their passions and align them with opportunities at Auburn University. Through in-person qualification visits, you'll assess their philanthropic interest and connect them with areas that resonate most deeply with them.
- Foster Collaboration and Creativity: Work hand-in-hand with colleagues in Human Sciences, Advancement, and across campus, to foster personal connections and develop a nuanced understanding of donor motivations to increase both affinity and financial support for the university.
- Strategize for Success: Develop comprehensive portfolio management plans, craft personalized messages, and design individualized giving plans. Your strategic efforts will drive donor investment and deepen their connection to Auburn University.
- Champion Philanthropy: Play a crucial role in expanding Auburn Advancement's major gift pipeline. By qualifying prospects and referring them to Development Officers, you'll help guide them toward significant investments for Auburn University's future.

The nature of this role is highly externally focused, requiring frequent travel and meetings on and off campus during regular and non-traditional business hours, and is therefore expected to operate with high-levels of autonomy.
Essential Functions
Your Responsibilities as an Auburn Giving Officer:
- Purpose: Play a crucial role in identifying and cultivating major gifts ($25,000+) to support Auburn University's mission. Work with clearly defined weekly, monthly, and annual goals for qualification visits and qualifying major gift prospects.
- Collaboration: Foster a culture of collaboration by building cooperative partnerships with colleagues in Advancement and other university departments. Organize information to identify potential fundraising opportunities and support decision making and planning related to prospective donors.
- Innovation: Engage in innovative prospecting activities through phone calls, emails, texts, and events to identify potential donors. Build Human Sciences' major gift pipeline by determining if visited prospects should be further cultivated for major gifts. For prospects not ready for major gifts, make referrals to appropriate areas for further engagement or solicitation.
- Production: Conduct in-person qualification visits with prospects, evaluating their interest in philanthropic giving. Travel to meet individuals, share information about engineering's programs and initiatives, and address their questions to inform future fundraising efforts. Execute monthly and quarterly touchpoints to maintain meaningful connections with donors.
