Audio-Visual (AV) Engineer
Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
Join UC’s Digital Services team as an Audio-Visual (AV) Engineer and help shape the technology that supports teaching, learning, research and collaboration across our campuses.
You will support, build and continuously improve UC’s AV platforms and services in line with UC standards, the AV roadmap and the needs of our staff and students. Your work will include:
- Designing, configuring and supporting AV software, control systems, audio routing, meeting room technologies and monitoring tools
- Supporting AV asset management, lifecycle planning, maintenance, spares, monitoring, recycling and disposal processes
- Undertaking or supervising AV installations, removals, testing, commissioning and handover to UC standards
- Monitoring AV systems, applying updates, resolving issues and working with suppliers where needed
- Maintaining accurate AV configuration, documentation and reporting information
- Providing practical support for live AV platforms and completing agreed maintenance tasks
- Coordinating with contractors and supporting safe, reliable operation of UC’s centrally managed AV equipment.

You are a capable AV professional who enjoys solving problems, supporting people and making technology work well in a busy environment. You bring strong technical skills, a customer-centred approach and the confidence to work with staff, students, contractors and colleagues.
You will also bring:
- Advanced experience with AV technologies, systems, software and integrations
- Experience with AV control systems, DSP/audio routing, meeting room technologies and monitoring tools
- Strong planning, analysis, problem-solving, communication and organisational skills
- Accuracy, reliability and attention to detail, including good documentation and reporting skills
- A collaborative style and the ability to work well with individuals and small groups
- A relevant degree, equivalent NZQA Level 7 qualification, or significant industry experience and training
- A current full driver’s licence and current First Aid certification; AV product certifications are desirable
