Position Summary / Department Summary

The Balance and Vestibular Program in the Department of Otolaryngology and Communication Enhancement at Boston Children's Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Audiologist to join our program. Our specialty program is a leader in pediatric vestibular care in the U.S. and internationally. This full-time position is based at Waltham site. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, the Audiologist will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and their families.

The primary responsibility is conducting audiological assessments for children with hearing loss and dizziness. Additional duties include providing consultation to Otolaryngology staff and allied health clinicians, as well as education and instruction to patients, families, and other healthcare providers as appropriate. The Audiologist will also participate in pediatric balance and vestibular testing after completing orientation. Engagement in clinical vestibular research is encouraged but not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive audiological assessments for pediatric patients with hearing loss and dizziness.
  • Provide consultation to Otolaryngology staff and allied health clinicians.
  • Educate and instruct patients, families, and healthcare providers on relevant audiological and vestibular topics.
  • Participate in pediatric balance and vestibular testing following orientation/training.
  • Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Doctoral degree in Audiology or Hearing Science from an accredited program.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in pediatric audiology services.
  • Strong understanding of pediatric audiologic disorders (e.g., otitis media, Eustachian tube dysfunction, genetic-related hearing loss).
  • Basic knowledge and skills in pediatric balance and vestibular testing preferred.

Licensure / Certifications

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or Pediatric Audiology certification from the American Board of Audiology.
  • Licensed as an Audiologist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (out-of-state candidates expected to obtain licensure within 45 days of hire).

Preferred Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent organizational and writing skills.
