Job Description:
Raritan Valley Community College has an anticipated opening for a full-time Audiovisual (AV) Technician. The AV Technician will play a vital role in supporting the institution's educational mission by ensuring seamless operation, maintenance, and support of audiovisual equipment and systems across campus. You will collaborate with faculty, staff to deliver high-quality AV experiences that enhance teaching, learning, and campus events.
Essential Duties:
AV Systems Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine maintenance checks and proactive troubleshooting of AV equipment, including projectors, microphones, speakers, amplifiers, video conferencing systems, and control systems.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize disruptions to classes, presentations, and events.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance with external vendors when necessary.
Classroom and Event Support:
- Set up, test, and operate AV equipment in classrooms, lecture halls, conference rooms, and event spaces.
- Provide technical support during classes, lectures, seminars, and special events, including audio mixing, video recording, and live streaming.
- Assist faculty and presenters with multimedia content integration and troubleshooting.
Training and Documentation:
- Conduct training sessions for faculty, staff on the proper use of AV equipment and systems.
- Develop and maintain user guides, instructional materials, and troubleshooting documentation for AV setups across campus.
Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate records of AV equipment inventory, including serial numbers, warranties, and service history.
- Recommend equipment upgrades, replacements, and purchases based on technological advancements and user feedback.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with IT staff, facilities management, and other campus departments to coordinate AV installations, upgrades, and renovations.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand their AV requirements and provide tailored solutions.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Audio Engineering, Multimedia Technology, Information Technology) preferred.
Proven experience in audiovisual technology support, preferably in an educational or institutional setting.
Proficiency with AV equipment and systems, including but not limited to projectors, sound systems, video conferencing platforms, and control interfaces.
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues independently.
Familiarity with industry-standard AV software and tools (e.g., Crestron, Extron, Zoom, OBS Studio).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, particularly in inventory management and documentation.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support campus events and activities.
