Auto Mechanic
Responsible for basic vehicle maintenance and repair for vehicles belonging to the university fleet including gasoline, diesel, and specialty vehicles.
- Provide automotive diagnostics, repair, and routine maintenance.
- Repair brake and steering systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems.
- Repair cooling components and systems including air conditioners and engine cooling.
- Perform emissions inspections, safety and similar state-regulated vehicle examinations.
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment.
- Produce legible and accurate paperwork reflecting work performed.
- Handle work-order documentation, parts requisitioning, and inventory duties.
- Controls maintenance, repair, replacement, and installation of various automotive components.
- Performs skilled work such as engine performance diagnosis, repair and tune-ups; vehicle preventive maintenance servicing; and various other repairs and maintenance of all university vehicles and equipment.
- Work within Texas State maintenance management computer system for work orders and vehicle history.
- This role requires expertise in powertrain, automotive electrical systems, and gasoline engine repair.
