Automotive Shop Aide WS, Student
Job Summary
Under direction of the Department Chair and Instructional Specialists. Students will prepare automotive vehicles, equipment, tools for laboratory use and assist with shop cleanup and organization.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Must maintain enrollment in at least six (6) credits at LBCC, maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout each term and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better (some positions may require a higher GPA), and have financial aid in place to be eligible to work in a Work Study student employee capacity at Linn-Benton Community College.
Knowledge and Experience
- Students must possess a valid driver’s license and a means of transportation to the ATTC in Lebanon.
- Working knowledge of automotive systems, tools, and equipment is not required but highly recommended.
Abilities
- Student employees must have the ability to perform all of the duties of the position efficiently and effectively and follow program/industry safety regulations at all times.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- This position involves the use of physical labor including ability to lift 50lbs, crouch, push/pull and stand for extended periods of time.
- Candidates are expected to adhere to college and industry safety practices.
- Access to online pollution and prevention training (SP2) will be provided and completion will be required within one (1) week of employment.
- All work is performed in an industrial shop setting located in the Linn-Benton Community College ATTC automotive building in Lebanon.
- Students may be exposed to chemicals, oils, loud noises, and sharp objects.
Essential Duties
- Safe operation of college vehicles while driving in and out of the shop.
- Cleanup in laboratory and classroom spaces as directed.
- Check and track automotive tools, supplies, parts, and fluid inventory as directed.
- Assist instructors with set up and breakdown of teaching aids as directed.
