AV Principal Departmental TEF Technician - Computing Services
CMU's Computing Services department is searching for an AV Principal Departmental TEF Technician. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. This position leads the set-up, management, and maintenance of audio-visual equipment that support University events on and off campus, as well as resident equipment associated with technology enhanced facilities. Ensure all audio-visual presentations and equipment are configured, set up correctly, operate smoothly, and are taken down and stored properly. The position is responsible for fulfilling orders for Event services and may serve as a subject matter expert for the temporary installation, maintenance, and repair of AV equipment. Expert knowledge is required to repair equipment, maintain a catalog of equipment the organization owns, set up and operate equipment during events and demonstrations, etc. Provide support for live presentations, distance learning, and audio/video conferencing. This role will work with University faculty, staff, and students, and may work with outside vendors and non-university contractors for the implementation and support of AV equipment. Train, mentor, and coach other Media Services equipment technicians. Teach others to operate equipment and document processes and services the department offers.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Assists management with the coordination of delivery, set-up, operation, and retrieval of A/V equipment used for University events.
- Leads in the process of inventory and inspection of departmental equipment. Locates and retrieves missing equipment. Consults and recommends on the purchase of AV equipment to replace or be added to equipment inventory.
- May film video productions.
- Trains and instructs students, staff, and/or faculty on operation of A/V equipment and helps troubleshoot if necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Associate's Degree
- Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills
- Strong Problem-Solving and Reasoning Skills
- 3-5 Years of Relevant Work Experience
