Role Summary
The Aviation Maintenance Instructor is a part-time, year round, non-tenure track position that teaches courses, advises students, and supports the continued operations and development of the Aviation Maintenance program. Primary responsibilities include teaching courses in our FAA-approved Part 147 program. This position requires an individual who has extensive general aviation knowledge of light and mid-sized piston and turbine engine aircraft. It also requires an individual having a demeanor that fosters a good learning environment for both traditional and non-traditional students.
Responsibilities
- Provide academic instruction in the University's Aviation Maintenance program.
- Primary responsibility includes teaching courses in our FAA-approved Part 147 program.
- Develop syllabi for courses and ensure course content meets accreditation requirements.
- Use a variety of proven methods of engagement and assessment that facilitate student mastery of course content.
- Provide students with constructive and corrective feedback.
- Evaluate student learning by creating and applying course competencies and accurately evaluating student progress.
- Assist with student advising.
- Provide scheduled office hours for student consultation.
- Utilize Blackboard, Slate for assignments, announcements, grades, and feedback.
- Serve on departmental and University-wide committees.
- Participate in recruitment and retention activities.
- Participate in program assessment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Your Qualifications
Essential
- Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license with a minimum of 5 years aircraft maintenance experience.
- Extensive general aviation knowledge of light and mid-sized piston and turbine engine aircraft.
- A history of working cohesively and cooperatively with the FAA is also required.
- General aviation maintenance experience needed.

Supplemental Skills / Experience
- An associate degree and/or bachelor degree preferred.
- Additional education/training.
- Experience teaching at the college level.
- Experience using Banner, Blackboard LMS, Simple Syllabus, and Degree Works.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
