Position Summary

The Community College of Aurora is seeking an innovative, inclusive, equity-minded educator to teach behavioral health and addiction counseling courses using inclusive and student-centered strategies, both face-to-face and online. Responsibilities include developing and evaluating curriculum that meets state CTE standards, maintaining industry connections, and holding active professional licensure with recent field experience. The role involves supporting Concurrent Enrollment instructors through observations, mentorship, and professional development, as well as collaborating on college committees and activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Faculty/Student Interaction: Demonstrate commitment to teaching, use various strategies, acknowledge learning differences, and relate coursework to real-life experiences.
• Classroom Performance: Teach 15 credits of relevant courses per semester, organize materials, communicate effectively, and maintain enthusiasm.
• Materials and Preparation: Maintain current syllabi, update materials, use appropriate evaluations, and participate in assessment of student learning outcomes.
• Record Keeping: Keep office hours, meet classes, submit reports, and maintain accurate records.
• Professionalism: Stay current in the field, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to a positive educational climate.
• Promoting Quality: Assist with schedule development, curriculum review, advising, and program advisory committees.
• Professional Contributions: Complete required training, attend meetings, uphold college values, and serve on committees.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrate abilities in planning instruction, analytical skills, communication, record-keeping, student evaluation, and working with diverse populations.

Required Qualifications

• Master's Degree in a behavioral health-related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Eligible for CTE credentialing in Colorado.
• Unencumbered professional license.
• 2 years full-time experience in mental/behavioral health within the last 5 years.
• Teaching or training experience.
• Proficiency in computer technology.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and engage in professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctorate in a behavioral health-related field.
• CTE-credentialed in Colorado.
• Licensed Addiction Counselor.
• 3 years full-time experience in the field.
• 3 years teaching experience.
• Experience with Office of Behavioral Health regulations.

Supplemental Information

Salary Range: $52,880.78 - $66,052.52 annually.
