Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (including a 60-minute unpaid meal break).
Job Duties
- 25% - Assists with the processing and tracking of benefit premium invoices, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, supplemental and auxiliary benefits, pet insurance, COBRA, and related administrative tracking duties. - (Essential)
- 20% - Assists with benefit enrollments and payroll deduction setup in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), benefits administration platforms, and carrier/provider systems, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee benefit transactions. - (Essential)
- 15% - Serves as the initial point of contact for visitors, employees, and benefits email inquiries; provides general benefits information, directs inquiries to the appropriate Benefits team member, and ensures timely customer service. - (Essential)
- 15% - Assists with coordinating wellness events and programs, including support for open enrollment activities. - (Essential)
- 10% - Assists with the development of benefits and wellness communications, newsletters, and other assigned projects. - (Essential)
- 10% - Supports the administration of tuition benefit programs, including Tuition Remission and Tuition Exchange. - (Essential)
- 5% - Performs other duties as assigned. - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three years of experience in HR, benefits administration, payroll, or a related administrative role.
- Demonstrated ability to manage benefits related data in an ERP or Benefit Administration System.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides), Adobe Acrobat, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
- Strong commitment to a quality work product.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and electronically. Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies.

EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: $20.20/hr-$28.00/hr
If you are offered this position at Occidental College, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, experience, and/or geographic location. In addition to those factors, Occidental complies with applicable pay equity laws and considers internal equity among current employees when developing the final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package.
