BEOL Integration Engineer (PlatEff)

Join imec’s Platform Efficiency (PlatEff) department at imec's R&D headquarters in Leuven, Belgium, to strengthen technology and modules across imec’s programs. This role is within the BEOL PlatEff team, focusing on engineering innovation in 3D integration, memory, and interconnect technologies for N28 – N10 nodes.

What you will do

• Work as an Integration Engineer in the Platform Efficiency (PlatEff) department on Technology Transfer projects, requiring knowledge of N28 BEOL technology such as Cu single and dual damascene and low k integration.
• Support 28nm and 14nm technology flows at IMEC for performance, stability, and reliability improvements. Collaborate with customers to set up processes at their sites, explain technology, and respond to questions.
• Set up and carry out development plans, including defining experiments, characterization strategies, processing in the imec pilot line, and data analysis.
• Define and discuss development plans with process engineers, implement splits into process flows, and manage cycle time in imec’s 300mm cleanroom.
• Leverage experience to test modules and establish optimal settings across program families.
• Expect trips to customer sites, potentially for extended periods.

Who you are

• Minimum Master’s Degree in Engineering or science field.
• At least 3 years of industrial experience in process integration for high-volume manufacturing, specifically BEOL for N28 or higher nodes.
• Strong data analysis skills, understanding of integration impact on performance and reliability.
• Customer-focused, able to meet deadlines, and balance multiple activities.
• Good communication skills for interactions within and outside the department.
• Initiative-taker, persuasive, assertive, with strong organizational skills and flexibility.
• Excellent English skills; must live in or relocate to Belgium.
