Bilingual Family Support Coordinator
Project Eagle is an early childhood program focused on preparing children, engaging families, and promoting excellence for children and families in Kansas City, Kansas. It provides home-based and center-based services to pregnant women and/or children ages birth to five through programs like Early Head Start and is part of the Educare Learning Network.
The Family Support Coordinator develops and maintains relationships with families enrolled in Project Eagle programs, ensuring they receive comprehensive services including health, social services, disabilities support, early childhood education, and parent development training. This role also involves building relationships with community organizations and managing services for approximately 35-40 children and their families.
Job Duties:
- Develop and maintain relationships with families, assist with Family Partnership Agreements, conduct home visits, and refer families to needed services.
- Collaborate with education staff for children's transitions, communicate progress, and attend parent-teacher conferences and home visits.
- Build rapport with parents, ensure participation in activities, support Parent Committees, and coordinate monthly parent meetings.
- Develop and maintain Individual Family Partnership Agreements, establish goals, and monitor progress.
- Administer screenings and assessments as required.
- Help families access resources like health, mental health, social services, education, transportation, and job training; advocate, refer, and document services.
- Address family issues positively, document interventions, and notify supervisors of at-risk situations.
- Participate in Child and Family Reviews, conferences, and research efforts.
- Engage in staff development, meetings, and conferences.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling, or related field; or Associate's degree plus 2 years experience; or degree in a related field with willingness to complete a Family Development Credential within 18 months.
- License/Certification: Valid driver's license.
- Work Experience: Experience teaching child development and parenting skills; delivering family support services; working with children ages birth to five.
- Language: Bilingual English/Spanish.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Master's degree or graduate coursework in relevant fields.
- Work Experience: Experience with children ages birth to three; strengths-based family support; prenatal, early childhood, and parenting education; home-based services; knowledge of Part B/Part C Services; comprehensive assessments; writing family goals; resources in Wyandotte County.
Anticipated Starting Salary: $23.08/hr. Work Environment: Requires driving and access to a personal vehicle.
