The Immunology Center of Georgia (IMMCG) represents a new initiative by the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University to leverage the ability of the immune system to combat disease.
Job Summary
The candidate will conduct complex bioinformatics analyses of high-dimensional immunology datasets, including CyTOF, bulk RNA-seq, CITE-Seq, and scRNA-seq.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to: Assist in complex computational analysis of high-dimensional immunology datasets, including CyTOF, bulk RNA-seq, CITE-Seq, and scRNA-seq. Conduct statistical data analyses. Assist in manuscript preparation for publication in peer-reviewed journals and presenting research findings at conferences and workshops. Develop bioinformatics pipelines from existing tools. Independently identifying solutions and ability to investigate and learn new approaches necessary to adapt existing or new models. Work independently to identify and implement solutions with some leadership and supervisory activities. Provide training on bioinformatics-related concepts, applications, and tools. Recommend new methods, strategies, and improvements to incorporate into existing models. Mentor a team of bioinformaticians and computational biologists. Oversee the development and maintenance of bioinformatics pipelines and software. Provide strategic direction and vision for bioinformatics initiatives. Represent the organization at scientific conferences and workshops. Establish and recommend workflows for omics data analysis. Help create publication-quality figures to aid in data presentation. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Bioinformatics, Biological Sciences, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or related field with six years of related experience. OR Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Bioinformatics, Computer Sciences, or biological sciences with three years of related experience. OR Ph.D. from an accredited college or university.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Familiarity with standard statistical methods. Proficiency in debugging and troubleshooting bioinformatics data analysis pipelines. Proficiency In R packages related to bioinformatics, statistical analyses, and visualization.
SKILLS
Strong problem-solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
ABILITIES
Experience in developing bioinformatics pipelines. Experience with version control management repositories (such as GIT). Experience with Python, Linux command-line, and HPC environment. Demonstrated ability to self-manage and manage interdisciplinary relationships effectively. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary research team.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required). Salary Range: $68,500-$87,300 annually. Pay Band: B13. Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position. Recruitment Period: Until Filled. Augusta University offers a variety of benefits to full-time benefits-eligible employees and some of our half-time (or more) employees.
