Job SummaryDepartment Specific Responsibilities
- Performs preprocessing and quality control of high-throughput next generation sequencing data.
- Executes established bioinformatics pipelines for data alignment, quantification, and variant or feature detection.
- Implements and maintains bioinformatics pipelines.
- Improves and creates new analysis pipelines for new data types and projects.
- Generates figures, tables, and summaries of analytical results to support manuscripts, presentations, and reports.
- Organizes, documents, and maintains research datasets in accordance with data management and reproducibility standards.
- Assists with data sharing and preparation of datasets for publication or collaborative use.
- Communicates with researchers to explain and interpret analysis results.
General Responsibilities
- Employs a variety of computational sequence analysis (mathematical and computing) tools to model and analyze biological data in support of researchers.
- Accesses, extracts and prepares data for analysis, including combining data run on multiple platforms as well as externally generated data in support of meta-analyses.
- Installs, configures, customizes, and supports analytical software for data on research clusters.
- Performs performance and reliability assessments to ensure systems are performing to maximum productivity and scientific validity.
- Documents consultation, analysis, and quality control efforts.
- Researches and stays up-to-date on emerging technologies/tools, trends, standards, and best practices related to bioinformatics.

EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in computer science, bioinformatics, biology, or related field.)
Preferred
- Master's degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biology, or related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
- Some experience in research technology support, large biological data analysis, or related experience.
- 1 year experience in single-cell data analysis and analyzing Oxford Nanopore long-read data.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
