Job Description
Biology Lab Assistants assist students in selected sections of biology lab courses to facilitate student engagement and success, augmenting the student experience at Oakton College. Lab Assistants may assist students with scheduled lab activities including assisting students with microscope work, physiology-based experiments, cadaver work, dissections, assisting with laboratory setup and take-down of lab, instructing on appropriate lab skills when appropriate and facilitating scheduled 'open lab,' pending the biological discipline. Weekly meetings with the instructor for briefing of lab activities are required.
Requirements
Specific skills/aptitudes may vary pending on the biological discipline. Applicants who have successfully completed the biology course for which they are applying with a grade of "B" or higher are eligible to work as a Biology Lab Assistant. Applicants should enjoy working with others, demonstrate leadership skills as well as a strong initiative and possess a dedication for student success.
