Biomedical Engineer
Position Summary:
AUIB is seeking a dynamic and experienced Biomedical Engineer to drive its mission of ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant dental equipment operation within a high-quality clinical environment. maintenance visits and corrective maintenance for complex issues, in addition to supporting dental software solutions and clinic computers. Key Responsibilities:
1. Equipment maintenance & repair: maintain, calibrate, and repair dental chairs, autoclaves, compressors, suction units, and curing lights.
2. X-ray systems management: Service and troubleshoot panoramic, periapical, and bitewing X-ray units; ensure radiation safety compliance and image quality.
3. Dental software & IT support: maintain dental practice management software; troubleshoot computer hardware and network issues.
4. Inventory & spare parts: Monitor spare parts inventory, order consumables, and coordinate with vendors for specialized repairs.
5. Emergency response & training: Respond to equipment failures during clinical hours, and train clinic staff on proper equipment use and basic troubleshooting.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
1. Technical diagnostic ability: Quickly identifies faults in dental chairs, X-ray systems, and autoclaves using schematics and testing tools.
2. Dental equipment expertise: Hands-on experience with panoramic, periapical, and bitewing X-ray units, autoclaves, and dental chairs in a clinical setting.
3. IT proficiency: Competent in dental software solutions, computer hardware, networking, and operating systems.
4. Attention to safety: Ensures all equipment complies with radiation safety, electrical, and sterilization standards.
5. Problem-solving under pressure: Responds calmly to equipment failures during patient treatment to minimize downtime.
Education and Experience:
• Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field
• Years of Relevant Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of experience specifically in a dental clinic or dental hospital setting
• Specific Skills or Expertise:
- Experience with dental chairs (maintenance, hydraulics, pneumatics)
- Experience with autoclaves (sterilizers, maintenance, validation)
- Experience with panoramic X-ray, periapical, and bitewing X-ray systems
- Proficiency in dental software solutions (troubleshooting)
- Strong computer skills (hardware, OS, basic networking)
• Additional Certifications:
- Radiation safety officer training – preferred
- Manufacturer-specific certifications (e.g., Sirona) – advantageous
• Personal Attributes:
- Detail-oriented and methodical
- Proactive in preventive maintenance
- Good communicator with clinical staff
- Calm under emergency equipment failures
