Overview


Edith Cowan University (ECU) is a large, multi-campus university serving communities nationally and internationally. Within ECU, Digital and Campus Services provides an organisation-wide service that is characterised by its responsiveness and customer-orientated approach. Digital and Campus Services brings together and optimises the digital and physical environments for students and staff; supporting their teaching, learning, research and administrative needs.


The Digital Governance, Risk, Security and Operations team support the development, enforcement and maintenance of information security and privacy programs through policy development, incident response and reporting, vulnerability management and overall risk management and assurance efforts.


The Information Security, Risk and Governance team is responsible for the delivery of information security services to ECU which includes security controls, IT risk management, governance, monitoring, managing, reporting, accreditation, and compliance for Digital and Campus Services. 


This team is currently overseeing the addition of significant state of the art cyber security capabilities and providing support services for the magnificent addition to our campuses – the Edith Cowan University Perth based City Campus. Come on, apply to join the team during this exciting period.


The Role


ECU is looking for an Information Security Operations Analyst to join our Information Security Operations team. In this role you will work proactively to identify, investigate, and respond to active and emerging security threats and incidents.


Successful candidates will be required to:


  • Work with the ECU’s managed services Security Operations Centre (SOC) to respond to identified threat activity, take the necessary mitigating actions and document incidents.
  • Perform triage for active incidents, conduct investigation and remediation, and where appropriate escalate to senior analysts and management.
  • Analyse vulnerabilities and threats to ECU, assess risks and priorities, and take actions for timely resolution.
  • Ensure all incidents are documented end-to-end. 
  • Conduct analysis of security event log data sourced from disparate systems across ECU’s enterprise environment, including ECU networks and managed systems, and third-party managed solutions.
  • Use their security operations experience and technical knowledge of solutions to manage, monitor and detect security risks. The solutions might include Microsoft Entra ID, Defender & M365, SIEM solutions, e.g. Logscale, Splunk, SOAR, Firewall and Zero Trust solutions.


It is expected that you can demonstrate 3 years+ experience or relevant skills with the above criteria.
