ABOUT THE JOB
St. Francis Parish in Greenwood, MS is seeking a dependable, caring and reliable bookkeeper who will support the parish.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
An individual with bookkeeping experience (accounting degree a plus but not required) and a willingness to support a Franciscan lead missionary Catholic parish.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Pay invoices for the parish with ParishSoft check writing software.
- Enter weekly collection into ParishSoft Family Suite system and make bank deposit.
- Code income and expenses into the ParishSoft system.
- Reconcile the parish "checkbook" each month
- Prepare a monthly income report for and attend the monthly Parish Council and Finance Council meetings.
- Prepare with the Pastor, the annual budget using ParishSoft
- Manage two parish savings accounts and reconcile monthly statements
- Backup the parish secretary when absent.
- Attend monthly parish council meetings and finance council (zoom?)
QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES
- HS diploma or equivalent coupled with 7-10 years of bookkeeping and general administrative experience.
- 3-5 years of experience with accounting software (ParishSoft experience a plus) and willingness to learn and use Parishsoft.
- Experience managing small office projects that include collaboration, communication and planning.
- Strong PC skills, knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel – familiarity with MS Teams is a plus.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills coupled with strong attention to detail.
- Self-directed work style.
- Strong preference for previous experience with a faith-based (ideally Catholic) organization in some capacity. Appreciation of and alignment with the Franciscan and Catholic tradition is important, as is a willingness to learn and understand the mission of the Franciscans and the Catholic identity of the Order.
