Position Summary
AUIB is seeking a dynamic and experienced Budget Analyst to drive its mission of building disciplined planning, budgeting, and financial governance in support of academic excellence and institutional sustainability. In this pivotal role, the Budget Analyst will support the development, consolidation, and monitoring of the University’s annual budget and forecasts, produce management reporting and variance analysis, and maintain controlled versioning and documentation tied to the chart of accounts and headcount plans. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate annual budget cycle: Manage templates, timelines, unit submissions tracking, and consolidation.
- Maintain assumptions and version control: Document assumptions and maintain a controlled audit trail of changes.
- Variance analysis and management reporting: Prepare budget-to-actual analysis and commentary support for leadership reporting.
- Forecasting and scenario modeling: Support rolling forecasts and multi-year scenarios as directed.
- Data tie-outs and integrity: Tie out data to Oracle GL and reconcile budget structures to COA segments; maintain evidence files.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Analytical rigor & modeling discipline: Builds defensible models with clear assumptions and documentation.
- Advanced Excel capability: Strong in pivots/lookups/models; comfortable working with structured data.
- Governance mindset: Treats budgets as controlled records with traceability.
- Stakeholder coordination: Can chase submissions, align departments, and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Integrity and data ownership: High attention to detail; escalates discrepancies; maintains audit-ready evidence.
Education and Experience
- Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- Years of Relevant Experience: Minimum 2 years in budgeting/analysis/management reporting (higher ed/nonprofit exposure preferred).
- Specific Skills or Expertise:
- Budget development support, consolidation, and variance analysis
- Forecasting and scenario modeling
- Version control and assumptions documentation
- Data tie-out/reconciliation to GL and COA structures
- KPI/dashboard summaries for management reporting
- Additional Certifications: Preferred: advanced Excel; exposure to Oracle reporting; basic BI tools familiarity.
