Building and Grounds Assistant (Custodial)
Job Description Summary
Primarily in Custodial Services/Recreational Facilities, performs a variety of custodial tasks related to maintaining the University's buildings, facilities and grounds. Hours for this position are Tuesday through Saturday, 4:00 pm to 12:00 am, with days off being Sunday and Monday.
Job Description
Essential Duties:
- Picks up trash and/or litter from University buildings and grounds; empties trash receptacles
- May sweep and mop rooms and hallways; may dust and perform general cleaning of rooms; may clean windows
- May vacuum and shampoo carpets; may strip and wax floors; may clean and sanitize restrooms
- May mow, trim, and rake grounds; may remove shrubs and trees
- May pick up and/or deliver equipment and supplies
- May perform cleaning/washing duties in dining hall dishroom or pot and pan area
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires a high school diploma or GED
- No experience required
- May require driver's license and the ability to be a qualified driver under the Universities MVR policy.
- Position requires the ability to successfully pass a Post-Offer Pre-Employment (POPES) physical
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the use of either cleaning equipment/materials or lawn equipment/materials
- Ability to understand and follow directions
