Building and Grounds Assistant
Job Description Summary
Performs a variety of tasks related to maintaining the University's buildings, facilities, and grounds. The shift for this position is 6:00 am to 2:30 pm & 9:00am-5:30pm (this is an approximate shift) rotate weekends. ** summer hours/location may be different based on the needs of the business.
Essential Duties
- Picks up trash and/or litter from University buildings and grounds; empties trash receptacles.
- May sweep and mop rooms and hallways; may dust and perform general cleaning of rooms; may clean windows.
- May vacuum and shampoo carpets; may strip and wax floors; may clean and sanitize restrooms.
- May mow, trim, and rake grounds; may remove shrubs and trees.
- May sow grass and renovate turf areas; may apply herbicides to lawn.
- May pick up and/or deliver equipment and supplies.
- May perform cleaning/washing duties in dining hall dishroom or pot and pan area.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a high school diploma or GED. No experience required. May require driver's license. This position requires the ability to successfully pass a Post-Offer Pre-Employment (POPES) physical.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of the use of either cleaning equipment/materials or lawn equipment/materials
- Ability to understand and follow directions
