DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform custodial work at Student Unions & Activities buildings CMU, West Bank and St Paul Student Center. Clean and stock auditoriums, ballrooms, large multi-function rooms, conference rooms, retail spaces, common areas, cafeterias, offices, corridors, stairways, loading docks, custodial closets, behind-the-scenes areas, and toilet rooms.
The Promotional Priority Period for current Teamster applicants begins 08/25/2026 and ends on 09/01/2026
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Ability to meet the physical requirements of he assignment. Must be able to read and write competently in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
Able to prioritize workload demands to reflect urgency of tasks and customer needs. Able to organize multiple projects with conflicting deadlines. Carpet extraction experience preferred. One year of continuous work experience preferred. Able to bend, stoop, climb stairs, shovel, mop and vacuum. Able to be on feet for up to eight (8) hours a day. Able to work at heights, on a ladder or in a lift to wash windows, change light bulbs, etc., as needed. Able to work with cleaning chemicals on a daily basis. Able to work with cleaning equipment, both manual and automatic, as needed.
About the Department
Student Unions & Activities (SUA) is a department within the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Minnesota. SUA operates three facilities: Coffman Memorial Union on the East Bank campus, services within the West Bank Skyway, and the St. Paul Student Center. The department has a total of 65 fulltime staff, representing all employee groups except faculty, and approximately 200 student employees.
SUA's mission is to provide a variety of programs and services to the University community that enhance the social, educational, and cultural environment of the University of Minnesota. These services include student basic needs support, facility rental, entertainment and educational programs, oversight of student activities, and support for a diverse array of student groups. Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $23.17 - $27.46; depending on education/qualifications/experience
