Primary Purpose of the Position
This position is responsible for the care of campus turf both on campus, athletic fields, satellite locations, and intramural fields. Troubleshooting and maintenance of simple to moderately complex turf issues on campus and athletic fields. Apply fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, overseeding, and top dressing to turf areas as applicable, whether directly or by way of outsourced services. Assist in planning and performing aeration of all campus zones and provide documented product usage, location used, and all documentation to be submitted to the Grounds Supervisor.
The position is responsible for campus appearance. This includes but is not limited to using mowers, trimmers, edgers, backpack blowers, sprayers, spreaders, and other ground-related equipment. Responsible for reporting any issues with equipment or needed repairs and replacement to the Grounds Supervisor.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- A valid driver's license. Must have an acceptable driving record, which may require up to five years of driving experience with no more than one minor fault accident or violation in the past three years. The University will review the driver's license and records periodically for compliance.

Notify the supervisor before the beginning of the shift if you are going to be late or absent. Notify the supervisor well in advance of any upcoming absences.
Initiative: Takes actions to improve the performance of self and others, goes beyond what is called for to complete a task, and seeks solutions to problems before being asked to do so.

Preferred Qualifications
- 5-10 years of work experience in landscaping.
- North Carolina Pesticide License.
