Required Qualifications:
- Two years of experience at the journey level divided among a minimum two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from high school or vocational school; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Possess or obtain within first 12 months of employment the PA DEP Water Plant Operator license. Maintain compliance with program requirements and license while employed in this University position. (Certification cost covered by employer)
- Possess a wide range of knowledge concerning the use, application, and care of a wide range of hand tools and power tools.
- Demonstrated knowledge of:
- standard practices and tools of multiple trades.
- occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Demonstrated ability to be proactive, predict needs and implement change.
- Ability to:
- plan, assign, supervise and evaluate work.
- train and instruct staff on safety precautions.
- work independently and with others
- prepare/maintain appropriate records/reports.
- make and work from sketches or plans for improvement or alterations of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
- make accurate estimates of time and materials required for repair and maintenance work.
- Work experience enforcing procedures regulated by federal, state, or local governments.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultures, racial, religious, and ethnic groups.
- Demonstrated strong analytical and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.

- Successful interview.
- Successful completion of three background checks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Supervisory experience within the building maintenance field.
- Prior work experience in a union environment.
- Prior work experience in a university environment.

- This position is designated an essential employee position.
- Employee is expected to report to work during their designated shift during emergency situations, university closures or delays.
Days Worked: Monday to Friday
Hours/Shift worked: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with occasional overtime.
