Primary Purpose of the Position:
This position serves as a member of the Banner Application Solution (BAS) programming team, supporting the University's ERP administrative application suite, including Ellucian Banner and ancillary systems such as Degree Works, Slate, transfer articulation platforms, and other enterprise applications. The role provides programming, application, and technical support primarily for Enrollment Management offices, including Admissions and the Registrar, and may also support Human Resources, Finance, and Administration functional areas.
This position will participate in the development of solutions using programming expertise to perform analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and documentation for projects of limited to moderate complexity. This includes developing and maintaining secure system integrations using Banner APIs, Ellucian Ethos, and Ellucian ILP, leveraging web, batch, and web services technologies to ensure accurate, reliable, and scalable data exchange across all functional areas of the campus.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education:
- Strong proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and relational database design principles
- Experience with system integrations, APIs, and middleware technologies (e.g., Ethos)
- Experience developing or supporting applications in Linux/Unix environments
- Working knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and change management practices
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues across multiple systems
- Experience with reporting and analytics tools (e.g., WebFOCUS, Edify, Power BI, or similar platforms)
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Strong understanding of data security, access controls, and compliance standards
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience working in a higher education or public sector environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
