Job Details

DEPARTMENT: Business, Accounting and Economics Department

POSITION TYPE: Faculty (50-100% FTE)

START DATE: Summer 2026

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Teach courses and serve as a faculty member in the Business, Accounting and Economics Department. All areas of specialization will be considered, with special consideration given to candidates with specializations in finance, accounting or one of the following areas: management, marketing, insurance and risk, supply chain logistics, or construction management. Dordt faculty advance the Christian mission of the university through contributions to teaching and scholarship, student recruitment and retention, campus and community service, and ongoing professional and program development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach a variety of courses (fall, spring, summer) related to the candidate’s area of expertise in Dordt University’s Business programs. Teaching assignments will include primary assignment in the undergraduate program teaching in a face-to-face format, with the possibility of some online teaching in the undergraduate and/or MBA programs.
  • Participate as a full team member in department and university administrative tasks, including student recruiting and advising, curriculum development and program review, assessment, committee assignments, and accreditation processes.

  • Develop and implement a personal annual contribution and professional development plan consistent with university and departmental goals; use the plan as part of regular self-assessment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Clear understanding of and personal commitment to a Reformed Biblical perspective and the mission of Dordt University, and ability to articulate how this Christian perspective shapes the teaching and practice of business, financing, or accounting.
  • Express an active Christian commitment, which shall include affiliation with a local, confessionally Reformed congregation that actively supports the mission of Dordt University.
  • Personal endorsement of The Educational Task of Dordt University and commitment to the curricular design set forth in The Educational Framework of Dordt University.
  • A master’s degree in business administration or related field is required; for teaching in the MBA, a doctorate is preferred.
  • Industry or work experience in the candidate’s field of expertise is required.
  • Experience in teaching is preferred. The successful candidate will collaborate alongside a visionary faculty and teach using curricular and pedagogical best practices. A commitment to excellence in college-level teaching, including curriculum design, classroom management, and ongoing student learning assessment is required.
  • Oral and written communication skills and interpersonal abilities that enable effective collaboration with students, faculty and staff, community members, and other professionals.
  • Prospective members of the Dordt University community are expected to agree with its sexuality, gender identity, and sexual conduct policy, which can be found on the Dordt University website. (Contact the Academic Affairs Office if you need additional information).
  • Participating in the educational task of Dordt University is to be understood as a calling. When disciples of Christ hear and accept God’s call to participate in the task of Dordt University, they occupy a variety of offices. Participating in the work of development and sharing insight is not merely an occupation or a means to gain financial security or self-esteem, but a task to which God calls us. When this sense of office consciousness is lost, we lose the essential meaning of our work. Therefore, Dordt University seeks to develop and foster an atmosphere where all office-bearers can flourish in fulfilling the calling of their office (from the Educational Task of Dordt University found at: https://www.dordt.edu/about-dordt/publications/educational-task-and-framework).

Company

Dordt is a private institution of higher education, committed to the Reformed Christian perspective. Located in the heart of the Midwest in the thriving community of Sioux Center, Iowa, Dordt seeks to provide a holistic learning experience for our students, in which they can develop Christian insight to discern and challenge the worldviews of our age in light of God's Word from a Reformed perspective.

With more than 300 employees—including faculty, staff, coaches, and adjunct faculty—Dordt enjoys a great spirit of collaboration and community in which all are committed to helping our students grow through the integration of faith and learning opportunities.

Associated with the Christian Reformed Church, Dordt College was founded in 1955 in Sioux Center, Iowa and welcomes all students who are interested in a biblical, Christ-centered education. Today, as an accredited Christian liberal arts university, we're on a mission to cultivate the next generation of servant-leaders, who will saturate their relationships and communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Dordt takes its Reformed Christian perspective seriously at all levels of faculty hiring, development, and performance review. Applicants must demonstrate a Christian faith commitment in agreement with Scripture and the basic tenets of the Reformed faith; they must also articulate how their Christian convictions are reflected in their teaching and scholarship. Dordt faculty members continually work to develop and communicate their understanding of how their Reformed worldview influences how they approach their discipline and their task as educator and scholars.
