Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is seeking a creative and talented instructor focused on student success who has a strong knowledge background to fulfill the tenure-track role of Business Management Assistant Professor in the Corrections Education program located at the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla, Washington.
This position is filled to fulfill a contract awarded to Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) by the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (WSBCTC) to operate a correctional education program at WSP in accordance with an interagency agreement with the Department of Corrections.
General Description:
The current business faculty at Walla Walla Community College is an innovative group of educators focused on student success across the following business disciplines: business, management, marketing, communication, computer science, and accounting. An ability to teach each of these subjects is required for this position.

Teaching and Related Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining curriculum; preparing appropriate class materials, tests, and assignments; evaluating and assessing student learning; assigning final grades to the students enrolled in the assigned course(s); and consulting with students as required by the instructional division.
Examples of courses to be instructed include but are not limited to: Introduction to Business (BUS&101), Business Law (BUS&201), Small Business Management (BUS194), Principles of Accounting (ACCT&201), Sales and Customer Service (BUS102), QuickBooks (ACCT115), Introduction to Computers (CS110).
Essential Functions:
- Instruction: Develop, prepare, and teach college-approved lower and upper-division business courses.
- Technology & Course Management: Utilize available technology appropriate to assignments, such as Microsoft Suite and Canvas.
- Evaluation & Assessment: Conduct appropriate and frequent evaluations of student performance and provide feedback.
- Records Maintenance: Maintain accurate student records including registrations, attendance, and book records.
- DOC Environment Student Tracking & Advising: Track individual student progression through block program milestones.
- Committee & Institutional Service: Serve on a variety of college committees.
- Safety, Security & Discipline: Flexibility to operate within a dynamic and changing environment while maintaining a security mindset.
- Institutional Communication: Maintain regular and timely communication via email with Education staff.
- Professional Growth: Maintain excellence in and commitment to professional development activities.
Competencies
- Implement and practice diverse teaching and learning strategies.
- Design curriculum, assignments, and projects that align with course and college-wide learning outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Business Administration or similar degree.
- Two years' experience teaching post-secondary business courses.
- Two years' experience/work in business.
Preferred Qualifications
- Participation in professional development activities and interdisciplinary projects.
- Teaching experience in various modes of instruction.
- Demonstrated expertise in using technology tools within appropriate modalities.
- Demonstrated ability to work with persons from varied cultural, ethnic, gender, age, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
