Business Operations Officer
About the role:
The School of Mental Health & Psychological Sciences (MHAPS) is seeking to appoint a Business Operations Officer to join their dynamic team in Business Operations. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious and experienced individual with a sound understanding of the higher education landscape.
The successful candidate will be capable of working autonomously and liaising directly with various stakeholders from Heads of Department to students across our diverse school in an independent manner. The post holder will use their initiative, discretion, knowledge and experience to help provide administrative support for key operational functions across Education, People and Space.
The post holder must be highly organised with a demonstrable ability to plan, prioritise and work to deadlines. The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail skillset, and should be flexible, proactive and strive for continuous improvement.
This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
This is a hybrid role that will require at least 3 days working across Denmark Hill and Guy’s Campuses.
About you:
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable knowledge and skills in business operations acquired through previous roles.
- Confidence and experience in processing financial transactions & knowledge of financial systems in a large organisation.
- IT skills (including Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and experience of utilising digital technology in day-to-day work.
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills to receive, understand and relay daily operational information to various groups.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team, contributing to broader team goals and objectives.
- Good organisation and time management skills, with the ability to organise workload and manage competing priorities.
- Good accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to follow and adapt to new procedures and processes in a timely manner.
- Proactive approach and able to problem solve.
Desirable criteria
- Keen interest in higher education business operations in the UK.
- Experience in servicing committees.
