Business Program Instructor

Overview

State Fair Community College is looking for a dedicated and skilled instructor for the Business Program. Successful candidates will be able to deliver high-quality instruction and support program development. This role involves teaching core business courses, developing new curriculum offerings, and preparing students with the skills and knowledge needed for professional success. The ideal candidate will bring industry experience, innovative teaching strategies, and a commitment to student engagement and growth. This position is located on State Fair Community Colleges main campus in Sedalia, Missouri.

Essential Duties

  • Develop and deliver engaging course content for core business courses that align with program objectives and outcomes.
  • Design hands-on learning activities that encourage problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Provide constructive feedback on student projects and assignments.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and advancements and incorporate relevant information into the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members on program and curriculum review
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress ensuring confidentiality of student records.
  • Maintain regular availability for student assistance during class/lab time and office hours outside of class/lab time.
  • Engage in professional development to stay updated on advancements in business education and entrepreneurship.
  • Represent the program at community events, career fairs, and other outreach activities to promote the program and engage with potential students.
  • Serve on college committees and contribute to department activities as needed.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary for the function of the college.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or a masters degree in a related business field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong understanding of resume development, job search techniques, and interview preparation.
  • Commitment to student success and the ability to support diverse learners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in entrepreneurship including business startup or management highly desired.
  • Community college teaching experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms and course delivery methods.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in business, entrepreneurship, or business education.
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging and interactive instructional materials.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using technology to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.

Completed applications will include SFCC application, cover letter, resume and transcripts. Employment will require a criminal background check at College expense. Preference is given to Missouri residents.

EMPLOYEE BENEFITS FOR FY25

(July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025)

Coverage is effective the first day of the month after beginning employment. For example, if you start on Feb. 1, your benefits will start March 1. All insurance premiums are monthly payments.

Medical insurance is paid 100% for the employee.

Faculty are not eligible for vacation as time off is built into the annual contract.
