Essential Job Duties:
As the Business Services Coordinator in the College of Sciences' Office of Finance and Business Management (OFBM), you'll work closely with the Assistant Dean and other staff to support financial transaction initiation and approval, reporting, and budget management, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in day-to-day financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage financial activity, budgets, and reporting for the College, including Dean's Office units.
- Oversee and reconcile the Dean's spending budgets across State Appropriations, Foundation Funds, and Gifts/Endowments.
- Serve as the primary backup for the Accountant in the College's Advancement Office.
- Process and approve financial transactions, including requisitions, vouchers, and P-Card reconciliations.
- Provide backup support for financial transactions in academic departments during vacancies.
- Ensure compliance with university policies, regulations, and financial best practices.
- Assist in submitting additional compensation requests, particularly summer salary for faculty members.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including the Dean's Office and Advancement Office, to maintain financial efficiency.
- Provide administrative support to the Assistant Dean and unit which includes maintaining OFBM's website and content, ordering supplies, and planning training sessions

Minimum Experience/Education:
Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated commitment to best practices in all business operations. Introductory financial and accounting experience with ability to: manage budgets using established tools, process and monitor financial transactions, reconcile finances, audit accounts, and manage account structures
- Demonstrated ability to maintain attention to detail, prioritize and meet deadlines, and handle confidential matters accurately and discretely
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with high degree of accuracy and minimal supervision
- Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving abilities that include identifying and resolving routine problems and resolving according to pre-established guidelines
- Demonstrated ability to convey routine financial information in a concise, comprehensive and accurate manner. Willingness to draft communication for less routine issues and work with appropriate team member to finalize communication
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of basic financial and accounting principles, with the ability to manage budgets using established tools, process and monitor financial transactions, reconcile accounts, perform audits, and maintain account structures.
- Commitment to applying best practices in business operations, with attention to accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and established processes and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, maintain attention to detail, and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Capacity to work independently with a high degree of accuracy while exercising sound judgment, identifying routine issues, and applying established guidelines to resolve problems.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information clearly and accurately, and collaborate with team members to develop communications for more complex or non-routine matters.
