Job Description
The Mathematics and Statistics Department at Missouri S&T is in search of a dedicated candidate to fill the position of Business Support Specialist II. In this impactful role, you'll be a driving force behind the department's success by handling a diverse range of responsibilities, such as:
- Answer phones and respond to email or other correspondence while maintaining a high level of customer service to students, university colleagues, and stakeholders
- Provide a variety of support to and collaboration with the Department Chair, including class scheduling, catalog changes, and other business-related needs
- Maintain department finances across multiple accounts, including: managing the annual budget input, scrutinizing and reconciling monthly credit card charges for staff and the chair, monitoring income and expenses, and guiding faculty on budget matters, generating detailed budget reports for the department chair and faculty
- Aid new faculty in utilizing startup packages provided by the department and college
- Assist principal investigators in effectively managing grant budgets, encompassing salaries and tuition fees for graduate research assistants
- Oversee and supervise the central department office, providing general office support as needed
- Monitor, track, and approve employee timesheets as applicable
- Regularly generate department reports and manage records for retention and disposition
- Handle paperwork and procedures for graduate teaching assistant tuition waivers
- Assist in the hiring and onboarding process for lecturers, post-doctoral fellows, and students
- Generate and process appointment renewal letters for student employees
- Assist with visa-related processes for new hires, such as H-1B, DS-2019, and others
Minimum Qualifications
An Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience with PeopleSoft and Microsoft Office Suite.
Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $17.05-$19.50 hourly.
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
