This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Butchery professional to play a key role in shaping and developing apprenticeship and commercial provision, while driving excellence in teaching, learning, assessment, and employer engagement across the department. They will develop strong relationships with employers, EPAOs, awarding organisations, and wider stakeholders to ensure apprenticeship provision remains responsive to industry needs and aligned to current standards. In addition, the role will provide strategic oversight of the Butchery commercial outlet, ensuring it remains fully stocked, commercially successful, seasonally innovative, and reflective of industry best practice, while showcasing apprentices’ practical skills and creativity within a professional learning environment.

What You Will Do

  • Lead high-quality teaching, learning, assessment, and curriculum delivery across Butchery apprenticeship provision, ensuring outstanding apprentice engagement, achievement, and progression.

  • Lead and support the Butchery team to maintain current vocational expertise through CPD, industrial updating, and aspirational pedagogical practice.
  • Oversee the operation of the Butchery commercial outlet, ensuring growth, stock control, profitability, seasonal innovation, and an outstanding industry-standard learning environment.
  • Promote learner progression, growth and industry engagement through competitions, events, enrichment opportunities, and strong stakeholder partnerships.

About You

  • Significant industry experience within Butchery, with current occupational competence and a strong understanding of industry standards and commercial practice.
  • A proven track record of leading apprenticeship delivery, engaging with employers, and building strong internal and external partnerships to support learner progression and growth in the Butchery department.

  • The ability to inspire apprentices and colleagues alike, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement, and aspirational teaching and learning practices.
  • Resilient, proactive, and solutions-focused, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift and commercial responsiveness is essential.
