1. Process and approve complex purchases within a specific
commodity grouping to meet departmental needs for goods and
services; establishes specifications, prepares proposals, reviews
bids, and ensures proper documentation.
2. Audit for contract compliance to identify and pro-actively
manage problems and resolve issues.
3. May serve as agent for UH Purchasing Department with state
and federal agencies, vendors, UH System Administration, and the
campus community.
4. Provides guidance and assistance to requisitioning's
departments regarding purchases; act as a liaison between vendors
and departments for order status, procurement procedures, and
problem resolutions.
5. Maintains awareness of most current market trends and
techniques to ensure the most cost-efficient purchases.
6. May provide guidance to clerical support staff.
7. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and
practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional
discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional
discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained
through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college
or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training
program that is directly related to the type of work being
performed.
Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related
experience.
