Offer Description
Following an order issued by the President of the Faculty of Human Kinetics, dated august, 28, 2026, a call for applications was authorized for the award of one (1) R&D Activities Grant to be carried out by doctoral students, under the following conditions:
Funding Source: Project "WAge: HEALTHY working environments for all ages: an evidence-driven framework", reference HORIZON-HLTH-2023-ENVHLTH-02-02 and Grant agreement ID 101137207, funded by the European Union through the Horizon Europe Programme.
Admission requirements: We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious candidate with the following qualifications, knowledge, and skills:
- Hold a Master's degree in Sports Science or related fields;
- Be enrolled in a doctoral program;
- Demonstrate proven experience involving the collection of motion (kinematic) data in the laboratory and/or field;
- Work experience in statistical data processing using multivariate analysis techniques;
- Proficient in Portuguese and English;
- Sense of responsibility and ability to communicate and integrate into multidisciplinary work teams.
Proof of enrollment must be provided by the time of contracting, and candidates may attach a sworn statement confirming that they meet the requirements for enrollment in an integrated master's, master's, or doctoral program, or in a non-degree course.
Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries must be registered by a Portuguese institution, in accordance with Decree-Law No. 66/2018 of August 16 and Ordinance No. 33/2019 of January 25. Work plan:
- Participation in scientific research tasks within the scope of the project in question, especially in the collection of movement data in an occupational context (industry and services);
- Data entry, processing, and interpretation;
- Production of scientific reports (articles and conference papers);
- Production of project indicator reports.
Workplace: The work will be carried out at the Faculty of Human Kinetics, located in Estrada da Costa, 1499-002 Cruz Quebrada, Portugal, under the scientific supervision of Professor Vera Moniz-Pereira e Maria Filomena Carnide (Faculty of Human Kinetics, University of Lisbon).
Duration of the scholarship(s): The research scholarship will last for twelve (12) months, starting in october/november 2026, and can be renewed but cannot exceed the end date of the funding allocated to the WAge project.

Admission Requirements:
According to Article 6 of FCT Regulation for Research Grantis (Reg. nr. 950/2019):
- Research Grants (for students of a course that does not award an academic degree):
- to hold a bachelor or master degree and be enrolled at a course that does not award an academic degree and it is integrated in the educational project of a higher education institution, performed in association or cooperation with one or several R&D units;
- not to exceed with this contract, including the possible renovations, an accumulated period of two years in this type of studentship, continuously or with interruptions.
- Research Grants (for Master students):
- To be enrolled at an integrated master or a master.
- Research Studentships (for PhD students):
- To be enrolled at a PhD.

Benefits
Monthly maintenance allowance: The grant amount is €1359.64, according to the table of values for grants awarded directly by FCT, I.P., subject to any updates that may occur and that are applicable to it. Payment is made by the 23rd of each month, by transfer to the beneficiary's IBAN indicated in the contract.
Other benefits: Reimbursement (upon request) of Volunteer Social Security 1st grade, and provided personal accident insurance.
Eligibility criteria
Eligibility: Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements set out in Article 9 of the FCT I.P. Research Grant Regulations (Regulation No. 950/2019, of December 16, as currently in force):
- National citizens or citizens of other Member States of the European Union;
- Non-EU citizens;
- Stateless persons;
- Citizens who are beneficiaries of political refugee status.
Exclusivity regime: The duties of a grant holder are performed on an exclusive basis, under the terms set out in Article 5 of the Research Grant Holder Statute and applicable and other research grant regulations.
Selection process
Selection methods: The evaluation will be based on a scale of 0 to 20 points and will focus on the assessment of academic and professional experience, taking into account the following percentage weighting:
- curriculum evaluation (50%);
- letter of motivation (20%);
- interview (30%).
The Jury reserves the right to exclude candidates who do not achieve the minimum final score of 10 points, on a scale of 0-20 points, and may not select any candidate if it agrees that none of the candidates possess the required profile.

Form of publication/notification of results: All candidates will be notified by email of the Final Assessment Result to the email address provided by the candidate in the application.
Deadlines and procedures for preliminary hearings, complaints, and appeals: After the provisional list of evaluation results has been communicated, candidates have a period of 10 working days to make a statement at a preliminary hearing of interested parties, in accordance with Articles 121 et seq. of the Code of Administrative Procedure.
The final decision will be made after analyzing the statements presented at the preliminary hearing of interested parties. The final decision may be appealed within 15 working days or, alternatively, appealed within 30 working days, both counted from the respective notification. Candidates who choose to submit a complaint or appeal should address them to the President of the Faculty of Human Kinetics.

Term and cancellation of scholarship contracts: Without prejudice to the other causes provided for in the applicable scholarship regulations (FCT and ULisboa) and in the Research Scholarship Statute, the scholarship shall cease upon completion of the contracted work plan, as well as upon expiry of the term for which it was granted or renewed.
At the end of the scholarship, the scholarship holder is required to submit a Final Report on the work carried out, in accordance with the defined objectives and evaluation criteria, within 30 days after the end of the scholarship.

The evaluation criteria at the end of the grant are as follows:
The objective criteria for evaluating the fellow's performance within the scope of the proposed work plan, as described in the call for applications. The evaluation will be based on performance indicators, measurable goals, and the score assigned to each component.
Evaluation Criteria
- Fulfillment of defined objectives and tasks (30%): Degree of achievement of the activities foreseen in the work plan.
- Technical and scientific quality of the work developed (25%): Methodological rigor, scientific basis and adequacy of the approaches used.
- Quality of the final report (10%): Clarity, organization, ability to synthesize and structure of the document presented.
- Capacity for critical analysis and autonomy (20%): Capacity for interpretation of results, critical reflection and autonomy demonstrated throughout the work.
- Meeting deadlines and involvement in project activities (15%): Attendance, meeting deadlines and participation in team tasks.
Final Evaluation Scale
- Excellent: 50–60 points.
- Very Good: 30–49 points.
- Satisfactory: 15–29 points.
- Unsatisfactory: Less than 15 points.
