Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities Call for Membership Applications

The Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA) is looking for new members. AGYA promotes research cooperation among excellent early-career researchers (3-10 years after PhD) from all disciplines affiliated with a research institution in Germany or any Arab country. The Academy supports the inter- and transdisciplinary research projects of its members who collaborate in Arab-German tandems and working groups on topics such as Health and Society; Dynamics of Transformation; Energy, Water and Environment; Arab and German Education; Common Heritage and Common Challenges; and Innovation.

AGYA is based at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW) in Germany and at the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) in Egypt. It is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) and several Arab and German cooperation partners.

Eligibility:

• Early-career researchers (3-10 years after PhD) from any field of the Natural Sciences, Life Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Technical Sciences, and the Arts
• Affiliation with a university or a research institution in Germany or any Arab country: Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen
• Full command of English, both spoken and written

Requirements:

• Proven record of research excellence in any field of specialisation
• Strong potential for leadership and advancement in academia
• High motivation to engage in AGYA activities and to implement collaborative research projects
• Special interest in exploring research approaches which transcend disciplinary boundaries for innovative solutions and resilient societies

Interested applicants can submit their applications via the digital portal on the AGYA website (agya.info) by filling in the application form and uploading the following documents in English:

• CV, including a list of publications and a scan of the PhD certificate
• Letter of motivation
• Two up-to-date academic reference letters supporting the application for AGYA m
