Campus Assistant Dean for Research
Job Summary
The Assistant Dean for Research is a senior member of the Savannah campus leadership team who is responsible for supporting research initiatives across the campus. This supports research productivity throughout the campus, providing independent opportunities for research and supporting research with UME learners, GME residents, and across the faculty.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work closely with the Campus Dean and will be responsible for supporting research operations across UME and GME.
Development of Research Infrastructure and Strategy
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to elevate the research profile of the MCG Savannah Campus.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary research collaborations within the College, across the university, and with external partners.
- Oversee grant development processes, including identifying funding opportunities, supporting proposal development, and providing guidance on compliance with funding agency regulations.
- Establish and manage research support systems, including mentoring programs for early career faculty and workshops on grant writing and research methodologies.
- Foster a supportive, collaborative research culture in the MCG Savannah Campus.
Faculty Support
- Design and implement programs that enhance faculty members' ability to conduct impactful research and scholarship.
- Collaborate with Campus Dean and Senior Leadership to identify faculty development needs and create tailored professional growth plans related to research and scholarship.
- Develop recognition programs to celebrate faculty research achievements and scholarly contributions.
- Provide leadership in guiding faculty through promotion and tenure processes with a focus on research, creative activities, and external funding.
Research Productivity
- Maintain a national reputation in research through publications and presentations in conferences and symposia.
- Develop opportunities for grant supported research programs across the institution.
- Support students and faculty in disseminating their research through publications, presentations, and other scholarly outlets.
- Lead an annual research conference tailored to UME and GME.
- Foster a culture of agility, innovation, and continuous learning in research.
Community Partnerships
- Build and sustain partnerships with local, regional, and global communities to facilitate community-engaged research projects that address societal challenges.
- Develop initiatives to connect students and faculty with community organizations to foster mutual learning and impactful collaboration.
- Represent the College at events and meetings focused on community engagement and research impact.
- Establish best practices for community-engaged scholarship and offer professional development opportunities for faculty to enhance their community-focused work.
Required Qualifications
- Faculty must have a PhD in basic sciences, clinical sciences, or related field.
- Leadership experience in research with established track record of research productivity
