Campus Energy Efficiency and BMS Specialist
Job Description:
Support campus energy efficiency and manage BMS systems through audits, improvements, and minor projects.
Mō te tūka | The role
Based in our Property Group, this role provides technical expertise to help manage, maintain, and continuously improve the Building Management System (BMS) and related automation systems across campus.
You’ll play a key part in identifying and delivering energy‑efficiency improvements that align with our Sustainability Strategy, while also leading minor efficiency‑related projects across lighting, security, access control, and carbon‑reduction initiatives.
Some tasks of the role include:
- Reviewing and auditing energy usage using BMS and analytics tools
- Identifying and investigating excessive or outlying energy consumption
- Recommending and implementing energy‑efficiency improvements
- Conducting audits of operational resource use and recommending targets
- Managing minor projects relating to energy, carbon reduction, and automation
- Supporting BMS operation, updates, troubleshooting, and hardware checks
Mahi & Wāhi / Utu | Work pattern, location & salary
This permanent role is based at our Lincoln Campus and works 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE). Due to the nature of the work, the role is based fully on‑campus. The salary for this position is $75,000–$85,000 per annum, depending on experience.

You will bring:
- A relevant qualification in science or engineering, with experience in energy or electrical management
- Familiarity with practical electrical and energy concepts and building management systems
- Experience with BMS or automation software (e.g., Siemens Desigo, Kaizen Coppertree)
- Strong planning, prioritising, and problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment
- A proactive approach to health, safety, customer service, and security
