Job Description:

City University in Canada is seeking a committed faculty member for a continuing teaching position and clinic coordination responsibilities in the Master of Counselling program in Victoria, BC. This role balances teaching responsibilities with scholarly and professional development, supporting a dynamic and student-centered educational environment. The role includes a three-course release to provide for counselling clinic coordination and administrative responsibilities.

Teaching (75%):

  • Teach 9 graduate-level courses per year (27 credits), or equivalent model, within compensation, as assigned by the Academic Program Director.
  • Participate in developing and updating course curricula and materials.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Incorporate innovative teaching methods and technologies to enhance student learning.

Clinic Coordination, Scholarly Activities, Service, and Administrative Tasks (25%)

Clinic Coordination

  • This position is released from three 3-credit courses for clinic coordination duties. This includes the coordination of the Victoria CityU Counselling Clinic, a program providing site placement for practicum for Interns and the management of the community client list.

Scholarly Activities

  • Conduct original research in counselling-related fields.
  • Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at professional conferences.
  • Collaborate and mentor colleagues on research initiatives.
  • Serve on editorial boards for academic journals.

Service and Administrative Tasks

  • Serve on departmental and university committees or initiatives.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and planning sessions.
  • Engage in community outreach and professional service activities.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.   • PhD in Counselling Psychology, or related field, Counsellor Education from a recognized program accredited by CCPA, CPA, BCACC, or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5-year teaching at the post-secondary level
  • A record of recent scholarship or research
  • A record of service
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and research
  • Clinical counselling experience in a clinical setting is required
  • Registration or licensing in a relevant professional body (RCC, CCC) with a preference for an acquired (or in progress) Approved Clinical Supervisor designation

Desired Qualifications:

  • Related, applicable experience with client management, clinical supervision, client case management, including assessment, assignment, continuity of care and required documentation in a clinical setting.

Salary information:

CAD $87,360 -- $91,520/year DOE
