Canada Excellence Research Chair in Mental Health

Located in downtown Toronto, the Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Arts at Toronto Metropolitan University invites applications for a Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) for a nonrenewable period of 8 years in the area of mental health, particularly related to emotional disorders or addictions. This is a tenured faculty position with no required teaching duties. At the end of the CERC appointment, the candidate will continue in a tenured position with regular faculty duties.

The successful candidate will be nominated by the University for the CERC Program, with appointments at the Associate or Full Professor rank. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Articulating, developing, and advancing a world-class research program.
  • Expanding leadership through editorships, awards, publications, and other contributions.
  • Committing to training highly qualified personnel.
  • Collaborating in a multidisciplinary community.

Nominees must be tenured at their current institution, at the rank of Full or Associate Professor (eligible for promotion to Full Professor within 1-2 years), and hold a full-time academic appointment. They must hold a PhD in a relevant discipline, demonstrate an innovative research program with interdisciplinary impact, and show commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

About the CERC Program: It aims to recruit top global talent to Canada, with awards of $500,000 or $1,000,000 per annum for 8 years, aligned with priorities like Healthy People and Populations.
