The Department of Linguistics invites applications for a Canada Impact+ Research Chair in Computational Semantics. Award: up to $8 million over 8 years ($1M/year), potential 4-year extension.
Appointment: Full-time tenured at Full Professor or Associate Professor (with promotion opportunity). Salary per collective agreement. Start-up package and CFI funding opportunities.
Research Focus
Computational Semantics, intersection of computational linguistics, semantics, pragmatics, AI (especially AI-supported language systems). Contributions to AI in language/communications, impact on education/learning. Industry collaboration, knowledge mobilization. World-class research, student training, teaching excellence in semantics, pragmatics, computational linguistics, AI courses.
Contribute to teaching undergrad/grad/postgrad, academic service.
Eligibility
Internationally based (outside Canada) at March 24, 2026 deadline. Recent track record, interest in Canada contributions.
