"Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Critical Canadian Cultural and Literary Studies"

The Department of English and Cultural Studies at McMaster University invites applications for the position of Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Critical Canadian Cultural and Literary Studies. This is a strategic hiring initiative targeted to a racialized scholar, as defined by the Canada Research Chairs Program. The Chair will be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or Associate Professor (with tenure).

The Department seeks candidates with demonstrated skills in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion. Focus areas include: Diaspora, transnational and refugee studies; Black, Asian, Latinx, or Middle Eastern studies; and Postcolonial / settler colonial / Indigenous studies. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in a related discipline and maintain an outstanding research program, teach at undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise students, and contribute to departmental governance.

Tier 2 Chairs are for emerging scholars within 10 years of their Ph.D., with potential for international recognition. The Chair is expected to propose an original research program and attract excellent trainees.
