Job Duties: The College of Engineering undergraduate academic affairs unit is a dynamic team committed to providing outstanding student services to the college's 5,000 undergraduate and 1,600 graduate students. Embracing a holistic approach, the unit includes academic advising, career services, study abroad, student leadership, scholarships and student wellness.

Engineering Career Services is a small and dedicated team focused on serving all students in the College and our alumni. The Career Education Coordinator role will focus on maintaining a career course, developing and teaching career programming for undergraduate students and serve as a generalist career advisor.

This position will:

  • Serve as instructor for career education courses,
  • Develop and lead workshops on career development topics,
  • Create and develop marketing and promotional materials for career-related programming,
  • Meet one-on-one to advise students on career options, the job search process, and job offer protocol, and
  • Serve on the larger engineering career services team helping to facilitate large-scale events such as career fairs, student visits to industry partners, and alumni/student networking sessions.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Responds to questions and provides information regarding student services, policies, procedures, and employment preparation
  • Develops and delivers career development programming and resource materials across various mediums to provide education to students
  • Participates in the campus-wide career services community, providing input to leadership regarding the development of advising, recruitment, and co/curricular programs offered by the school/college/unit
  • Educates or advises students and recent alumni individually or in groups through various mediums about career exploration, self-assessment, skills, materials development, and career decisions
  • May identify and maintain a professional network of employers or other stakeholders to facilitate career exploration and employment opportunities for students

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of teaching experience, including teaching assistantships
  • At least 1 year working in higher education post degree completion in a student-facing role
  • Demonstrated experience creating, presenting and facilitating workshops and programs for college students
  • Familiarity with career development literature, resources, services and theories
  • Experience working effectively in teams and independently
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work while balancing multiple priorities and managing deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of experience working in career services or academic advising
  • Experience managing courses in Canvas
  • Experience using marketing and communication products such as Canva, Eloqua, and LinkedIn groups
  • Experience supporting students with preparing job search materials

Education: Master's Degree Required (preference in higher education or related field)
