primary focus on serving students in the School of Health Sciences.
As an integral member of the SPDC team, the Fellow provides individual and group career advising, co-teaches career exploration courses, assists in event planning and marketing, and collaborates across campus to advance SPDC initiatives and support students in health professional training programs. The position offers a comprehensive introduction to the field of career services and higher education administration, with particular exposure to the unique needs of students pursuing careers in the clinical health sciences, while contributing to Elon's nationally recognized model for student success. This position will regularly collaborate with faculty and staff in the School of Health Sciences, including the emerging Elon Charlotte Master of Physician Assistant Studies program.
This 10-month, in-person position includes a $2,680 monthly stipend, on-campus housing, a meal plan, and full Elon University employee benefits, including health insurance, paid holidays, and vacation/sick leave.
Job responsibilities include:
Career Advising and Student Support
- Provide one-on-one and drop-in advising for students enrolled in the BSN, ABSN, MPAS, and DPT programs, as well as supporting other schools/college as needed.
- Assist students with exploring majors and careers, developing job/externship/internship search strategies, crafting application/residency materials, LinkedIn, and preparing for interviews.
- Support students pursuing further graduate and professional school opportunities such as Advanced Practice Nursing, specialty residency training, and further doctoral education.
- Responsible for the assessment and data-gathering to determine the efficacy of services provided to School of Health Sciences students.
Teaching and Course Support
- Co-teach Elon's Career Exploration and Education courses focused on career development and professional preparation, as needed.
- Support application year courses for graduate and professional school preparation, as needed.
- Contribute to the curriculum development, grading, and classroom facilitation of an integrated career curriculum in the School of Health Science.
Program Development and Event Support
- Assist with the design and execution of professional development programs and events, both in-person and virtual, with a focus on sessions designed for the transition of School of Health Science graduates to competitive applicants.
- Collaborate with SPDC colleagues to promote inclusive, high-impact programming for diverse student populations.
- Collaborate with Corporate & Employer Relations as well as School of Health Sciences faculty and staff on co-branded or jointly sponsored initiatives, including, but not limited to: Nursing Career Day and the PA Studies Alumni & Employer panels.
Campus Collaboration and Outreach
- Build partnerships with faculty, staff, and campus offices, including Residence Life, to promote SPDC resources and deliver tailored programming.
- Engage in cross-campus initiatives that enhance student professional readiness and community engagement.
Professional and Personal Development
- Participate in professional development opportunities, including conferences, workshops, and campus leadership initiatives.
- Engage in continuous learning and reflective practice in career services and student affairs.
- Travel to conferences and workshops focused on healthcare workforce development with, or in place of, the Associate Director of Career Advising for Pre-Professional Health and Health Professions Advising.
