Careers Consultant (0.8 FTE)
About the role
Are you a Careers Consultant passionate about helping students and graduates shape fulfilling, goal-aligned careers? In this role, you'll support our students across multiple campuses. Departmental work aligned to this role may include, but is not limited to, Life Sciences, Civil Engineering, and Design Engineering. Project activity may span the full student lifecycle, from outreach and pre-entry engagement through to professional skills development, transition support, and alumni engagement. What you would be doing
In this role, you'll design and deliver engaging career workshops and events, both in-person and online, for students and alumni. Central one-to-one career guidance, mock interviews, and skills development will be key responsibilities. You'll also collaborate with employers and maintain up-to-date knowledge of international recruitment practices. Additional lead responsibility will be discussed with the successful candidate which may include oversight our Professional Skills for Employability course. Flexibility to work across campuses and occasional evening or weekend work is required.
What we are looking for
- Organising Careers Events and Workshops: Develop and deliver a variety of careers-related workshops, seminars, events, and interventions, both in-person and online, for students, alumni, and staff across all departments.
- Developing Learning Resources: Create and manage online and blended learning materials to assist students in securing employment in the UK or their home countries.
- Providing Individual Careers Support: Offer one-to-one careers advice, guidance, mock interviews, and skills development sessions both in-person and online.
- Proactive and flexible: Ability to take the lead and use initiative to deliver ad hoc projects that contribute to service development.
- Staying Informed on Recruitment Practices: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK and international recruitment to support students with job applications, interviews, and other selection processes.
- Using Data to Guide Career Development Activities: Collect and analyse data on students’ career needs and outcomes to inform and prioritise effective career support strategies.
- Employer and Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with employers, professional bodies, and related organisations to secure opportunities and resources for students.
- Flexible Work Approach: Adapt to working across multiple campuses and occasionally outside standard hours to meet stakeholder needs and enhance the student experience.

Salary: £57,785 - £69,365 per annum.(full time equivalent) Actual salary: £46,228 per annum (0.8 equivalent) Appointment will be made at the bottom of the scale
