Position Purpose On both a scheduled work order basis and in response to emergencies, independently performs maintenance and repair to Dartmouth College academic and administration buildings, structures, and related fixtures and utilities, using a variety of trade practices associated with carpentry.

The Carpenter II displays an advanced level of skill and is able to plan, execute and complete complex carpentry and related projects. Oversees carpentry work of the greatest complexity to ensure high standards are met.

Required Qualifications

• High School or equivalency
• Four- to eight years of relevant experience in carpentry and related trades.
• Valid driver’s license
• Mastery of shop mathematics, able to measure and cut material to specified dimensions
• Ability to read and understand building plans and sketches
• Highly skilled in the use of all hand tools and power tools
• Strong customer service and communications skills
• Computer skills including basic word processing, email, spreadsheets
• Ability to perform demanding physical activity

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum one-to two years’ apprenticeship in relevant trade, or trade school, preferred
