Carpenter II (Multiple Positions)
Position Highlights
University Facility Services is seeking to fill multiple Carpenter II positions. This role involves constructing, repairing, restoring, and installing structural woodwork and related materials. Follows the University design standards, policies and procedures in a professional manner while ensuring quality workmanship, maintain a clean and safe environment and positive customer relations.
University Facility Services consists of over 700 employees and teamwork is our strength. UFS services over 13 million square feet of campus-keeping the grounds beautiful, classrooms clean and all utilities moving through the campus.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Constructs, repairs, restores and installs structures such as floors, doors, steel stud walls, drywall, windows, stairways, furniture, cabinets, shelves, and roofs.
- Operates and performs preventative maintenance on hand and power saws, planers, lathes, joiners, shapers, drills, sanders and a variety of hand tools.
- Installs locks, knobs, hinges, closures, and other fixtures to structures. Cleans equipment, shop area, and work site area.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to the commercial carpentry trade.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience is required, or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, apprenticeship training, and relevant experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in estimating time and material requirements of work projects assigned.
- Experience in commercial cabinet and casework fabrication and installation.
- Experience with computer data entry and software such as MS Word, Outlook, Excel.
- Experience in hanging drywall, tape and texture.
- Experience in Acoustical ceiling grid installation and ceiling tile.
