Job Summary
Reporting to the Associate Director of Campus Dining and under the supervision of Service Supervisors, the Cashier is responsible for providing efficient and accurate customer service by processing sales transactions using the Micros point-of-sale system. This role also involves training casual staff, restocking food and beverage items, and maintaining cleanliness in the work area. The Cashier ensures the accuracy of all cash and debit transactions while supporting smooth daily operations.
Job Duties
- 40% - Processes customer sales transactions accurately and efficiently using the Micros point-of-sale system, handling both cash and debit payments. Counts and maintains the opening cash float, reconciles transactions at shift end, and deposits cash according to established policies, addressing any discrepancies with the supervisor. - (Essential)
- 15% - Restock food and beverage products and supplies, ensuring beverage stations—including coffee, tea, milk, cereal, soda fountain, and toaster areas—are clean, fully stocked, and set up for service. Prepares the oatmeal and toppings station, refills ice, and replenishes water dispensers, condiment stations, and grab-and-go snacks throughout the shift and at closing. - (Essential)
- 15% - Performs general cleaning duties to maintain a clean and organized environment. Ensures all food and beverage display and storage areas are kept clean and orderly at all times. Sweep floors as needed, promptly address spills, and regularly cleans and sanitizes all self-serve equipment. - (Essential)
- 10% - Performs general cleaning duties to maintain a clean and organized environment, including sweeping floors, promptly addressing spills, and sanitizing all self-serve equipment and food display areas. - (Essential)
- 10% - Provides excellent customer service with a positive and professional attitude, assisting with inquiries or special requests. Enforces store policies, monitors for potential theft, and reports issues to management. - (Essential)
- 5% - Ensures the safety of guests, staff, and the facility by following proper safety procedures, using appropriate equipment and signage, identifying hazards, and promptly reporting concerns to the supervisor. - (Essential)
- 5% - Provides hands-on guidance with the Micros system, restocking, and cleaning tasks, and communicates any questions or concerns to the supervisor. - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Read, write and speak English. Demonstrated math skills to accurately reconcile cash and debit sales reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Google drives/folders/forms or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy. Strong commitment to a quality work product.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and electronically.
- Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies.

Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of experience in food service operations in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience handling cash transactions using a point of sale register, preferably Micros or similar system.
EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: $17.87/hr
