About This Opportunity
The School of Public Health teaches into several programs at The University of Queensland at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, including the Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program. We are seeking applicants with diverse skills and expertise to contribute to our growing community at the School of Public Health.
We are seeking casual academics to run tutorial classes and/or mark assessments. The School of Public Health welcomes applications from candidates with expertise in the following discipline areas:
- Epidemiology and biostatistics
- Health promotion and protection
- Determinants of health
- Research methods
- First Nations’ health
- Health services, systems and policy
Casual Academics at the School of Public Health play a significant part in the overall student experience and assist in the teaching and delivery of both undergraduate and postgraduate courses:
Responsibilities as a Casual Academic may include (but are not limited to):
- Preparing and delivering tutorials, seminars and guest lectures.
- Facilitating workshops/tutorials as directed by course coordinators
- Undertaking marking of assessment tasks, as directed by course coordinators.
Casual academic positions are based at both the Herston and St Lucia Campuses, and successful appointees will be required to attend on campus.
Our Ideal Candidate
- Applicants must have the right to work in Australia for the duration of their employment. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.
- Honours or postgraduate qualification(s), current enrolment in a higher degree research or postgraduate coursework program, and/or industry experience relevant to the teaching discipline will be highly regarded. Note that your qualification will determine which of our programs you are eligible to assist with.
- Relevant teaching experience is desirable but not essential.
New applicants must be available for compulsory training sessions scheduled for the week prior to semester.
